Starlight Drive-In Movie Theatre

Nostalgia was never so much fun as an evening watching movies under the stars at Atlanta’s only drive-in theater, the Starlight. Open since 1949, the Starlight has both changed with the times – adding more screens and switching to digital projection – and held onto its yesteryear charm.

What to Know Before You Go:

  • Adult tickets are $9 while kids aged 5-9 are only $1
  • It’s OK to bring your own food so long as you won’t be cooking it on the premises.
  • There’s a snack bar, which serves the usual drive-in treats plus Mexican food.
  • It’s a great date night. You can bring lawn chairs and sit outside the car.
  • The Starlight is open seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Plaza Theatre | 1049 Ponce De Leon Ave

Like the Starlight Drive-In, the Plaza has been around for a long time. It claims to be the oldest running theater in Atlanta. Most casual movie goers will still be impressed by the retro decor, the curtains are classic and there are still quite a few pieces of vintage furnishing to admire. For those looking for something a little quirky in terms of both visuals and concessions, the Plaza is still the place to visit.
